Discover more from The Glass
Publication day is finally here for Gin A Tasting Course. This is my first time seeing my name on a book cover. Look ma, I’m a real live author! :)
I can’t tell you how much this means to me. After months of hard slog, the book has completed its journey from my mind out into the world, into the hands of real readers — perhaps including some of you.
As part of my preparations for today I had to update my author bio. It turns out it isn’t enough just to list “stuff wot I do”. It has to be crafted. Each sentence has do perform a different function: establish credentials, create a human connection and so on.
This sentence functions as my “appeal to audience”:
Anthony believes the key to everyday happiness lies in drinking better, not more, and he helps readers pursue this through a focus on flavour deepened by an understanding of the liquid in their glass.
I like this because it sums up the approach I’ve taken with the book. I hope that after reading it you will feel more at home navigating gin’s many flavours. This translates to being more comfortable choosing which cocktail to make with which gin, or which garnish to use to elevate your G&T. They’re simple pleasures, yes — but they do make life just a bit better.
As you may know, early sales and reviews are vital for a book’s success. If you want to learn more about what’s in the book, you can do that here. I’ve also included the contents pages below to give you a flavour of what to expect.
If you’re thinking of buying a copy, today’s the day. Start navigating gin with more confidence.
